Klatt may not be alone in that opinion. Big Ten coaches are speaking out about their conference rivals, speaking anonymously to Athlon Sports.
“That might be the best roster in college football, with the returners they have on the D-line and the back end, with the addition of Koi Perich from Minnesota — and then offensively, they basically return everyone but Malik Benson, Kenyon Sadiq and a couple running backs, but they played three running backs all year. They lose a couple O-linemen, but I think they feel fine about it. (Dante Moore) was the best quarterback we faced last year,” one Big Ten coach told Athlon Sports.
While the survey is anonymous, there are only a handful of coaches who faced Dante Moore in 2025. Moore also likely had a great game against them. He passed for 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also ran in two more on the ground. They also bring back more than just Moore. Oregon is 11th in the nation in returning production, according to Bill Connelly of ESPN. The key is getting that returning talent into the right spots to make a play.
“With them, the key is going to be how their coordinators put their guys in position to make plays because at no point did I think what they did on defense was super complicated, but it was just so sound and everyone was doing their job at a high level. When you watch them on tape, they look like a team with a lot of 5-stars,” another Big Ten coach said.
Oregon is expected to contend for a Big Ten title in 2026. They sit just behind Ohio State and Indiana in terms of odds to be the conference champion, according to odds provided by DraftKings. They begin their season on September 5 at home against Boise State.
