In a somewhat surprising move, North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick has been making the rounds, doing interviews, and Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio is calling out Sean Hannity for his conversation with the iconic six-time Super Bowl champion.
Florio speculated that the reason behind Belichick’s recent public appearances is damage control. Doing press could make him “more likable (or less unlikable),” as the Pro Football Talk host said.
Despite these efforts, Florio called out Pardon My Take and Hannity’s interviews, claiming they gave the Tar Heels coach “very favorable treatment,” going as far as saying the latter “repeatedly fawned over Belichick.”
Granted, Hannity claimed to be a football fan during the interview. However, Florio didn’t buy it, specifically calling out when Hannity said, “You could have stayed in the NFL as long as you want to, I think. That’s my opinion. I think you know that, too. I’m sure you had offers.”
After all, Belichick didn’t receive any offers from other teams in three hiring cycles. During that stretch, he only got one interview, despite his past greatness.
The criticism wasn’t exclusive to Hannity, though. Florio noted that Belichick’s interview, which featured his Super Bowl trophies and rings around him, had the goal of “reminding current college football players (and, perhaps more importantly, their parents) that the current coach of the Tar Heels has more than a few pelts on the wall.”
Belichick is heading into his second season with the Tar Heels. They went 4-8 under him in 2025. He went 4-13 in his last year with the New England Patriots, his worst record with the team.
Fans will have to wait and see if this approach from the North Carolina coach works. His relationship with Jordon Hudson has been the subject of scrutiny over the last few years. She famously crashed his interview with CBS News during his last notable press tour.
