Texas football fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming season, and Cam Coleman is certainly among the reasons.
Coleman, who transferred to UT from Auburn in January, is 6-foot-3 and apparently, the 200-pound weight he has been listed at might be a bit out of date, according to a CBS Sports article by Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz.
“On the player side for Texas, one new Longhorn who’s drawn a ton of buzz is former Auburn wide receiver transfer Cam Coleman. His catches have caught fire on social media, but it’s his physical development that’s caught the eye of some within the program,” Hummer and Zenitz wrote.
“‘I think his body has changed over the last six months, and it’s been really impressive,’ a source said. ‘He’s gone from a very lean AJ Green-esque body to more of a very built and ready Julio (Jones). It’s very impressive to see the weight he’s put on and still maintain the speed and the catch radius. He put together a really impressive spring.’”
Coleman, who won’t turn 20 until August, has already played two years of college football. At Auburn, he caught 93 passes, including 13 touchdowns, for 1,306 yards in 23 games.
He will almost certainly be a top target for starting quarterback Arch Manning, who is returning for his second season at the helm of the Longhorns’ offense. In his first year, Manning struggled at times but finished the season on a high note; over the final six games of the year, he totaled nearly 2,000 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only two interceptions.
Texas, which will likely be among the top teams in the country to start the 2026 season, kicks off the year vs. Texas State on Sept. 5 before hosting Ohio State on Sept. 12.
