In his lone season at Arkansas, Acuff averaged 23.5 points, 6.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 44.0 percent from 3-point range and 80.9 percent from the free throw line.
perspective report card
High school record/track. Came to the national spotlight during his sophomore season when he led Cass Tech to its first Division 1 state championship with a 27-1 record. Led IMG Academy to a 41-17 record over his final two seasons.
Statistics/Achievements: Averaged over 20 points and 5 assists in three straight seasons. Acuff was named the MaxPreps Michigan Player of the Year as a sophomore before leading the Nike EYBL Scholastic in scoring his junior and senior years, earning MaxPreps All-America honors each season.
An outstanding achievement. Earned MVP honors at the Iverson Classic after posting 32 points and 11 assists in a 164-151 win over Team Loyalty. Acuff also earned All-MVP at the City of Palms Classic his senior year, averaging over 30 points per game at the event.
He needs a job. With little ball-handling experience in his career, how will Acuff fare if he’s not the centerpiece of a next-level offensive system? His size can also be a hindrance against NBA size.
Best suitable/probable landing place. Projected to be picked in the 5th to 7th range, Acuff’s best development scenario would likely be the Brooklyn Nets at No. 6, where he can be the primary ball-handler and control the offense alongside breakout wing Michael Porter Jr.
