In his lone season at Illinois, Wagler averaged 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists per contest while shooting 44.5 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from 3-point range and 79.6 percent from the free throw line.
perspective report card
High school record/track. Wagler had a career high school record of 80-16, though he played sparingly as a freshman. He led Shawnee Mission Northwest to state titles in 2023-24 and 2024-25. The 2023-24 squad went 25-0 in the process of winning the program’s first state title.
Statistics/Achievements: Averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest as a junior before increasing his output to 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest as a senior en route to being named the MaxPreps Kansas Player of the Year.
An outstanding achievement. He had a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds in a 64-60 win over Olathe North his senior year. He also had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in an 86-65 win over Shawnee Mission East.
He needs a job. Some poor shooting performances are cause for concern about his effectiveness, including a game that saw him shoot just 2 of 16 from the field in an overtime loss at Michigan State.
Best suitable/probable landing place. Wagler is likely to be selected in the 5-7 range of the draft, currently mocking the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 5.
