For years, Jim Morris worked as a high school science teacher and baseball coach, believing his dream of playing Major League Baseball had slipped away.
Then he made a promise to his team: if they won the district championship, he’d finally attend a professional tryout.
His players kept their end of the deal.
At 35 years old, Jim threw a 98 mph fastball at the tryout, earned a contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and made his long-awaited MLB debut.
His incredible comeback later inspired the Disney film The Rookie, proving it’s never too late to bet on yourself.
