Steelers rookie Max Iheanachor’s Pittsburgh home burglarized: Source

Steelers rookie first-round pick Max Iheanachor’s home in Pittsburgh was burglarized on Aug. 26, a team source confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because they didn’t have permission to comment publicly.

The incident occurred the day before the team’s final preseason game in Buffalo. According to a Pittsburgh police spokesperson, the two occupants of the home reported that approximately $150,000 to $200,000 worth of jewelry and designer bags were missing.

When officers arrived at the scene in Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington neighborhood, they were met by two occupants who reported that they were away from the home from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They told the police that they had locked the doors and the garage. When they returned, the garage door was open and a window had been broken by a rock.

There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

The Steelers had no additional comment. Iheanachor’s agent, Ryan Williams, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

The apparent theft is the latest in an unfortunate trend in recent years of targeting professional athletes. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow have also been the victims of similar crimes.

The Steelers selected Iheanachor with the 21st pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The former Arizona State offensive tackle impressed in training camp but was sidelined for several weeks with an undisclosed upper-body injury. He is listed as the second-team right tackle ahead of Sunday’s season opener in Pittsburgh against the Atlanta Falcons.
