Arizona State news: 4-star OT picks Sun Devils over Oregon, Texas A&M

Arizona State has built itself into an annual contender in the Big 12 under Kenny Dillingham. This resulted in Dillingham getting a contract extension from the school.

One of the reasons for the turnaround of the Sun Devils has been the recruiting. Now, they have landed a new prized recruit, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

Four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand has committed to Arizona State. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle decided to stay local, coming out of Chandler, Arizona. He chose the Sun Devils over Oregon, Texas A&M, and Utah. Hildebrand spoke of the relationship with coaches as being a major factor in his decision, per Adam Beadle of On3.

“I’ve known the coaches since I was a freshman,” Hildebrand said. “They offered me when I was actually in eighth grade. So the relationship’s been built for many years.”

He is also excited to be staying home. He is the highest-rated prospect from the state of Arizona to commit to Arizona State since N’Keal Harry in 2016.

“Staying home is definitely a blessing,” Hildebrand said. “I want more kids from the state of Arizona to stay home and be Sun Devils.”

While he hopes to help the Sun Devils continue winning, he is also hopeful that the coaching staff can develop him into an NFL talent.

“With (offensive line coach Saga Tuitele’s) eyes, I like to say, he was able to see that talent and coach him up for three years, and finally be able to be a first-round pick, only playing football for four years, is really crazy,” Hildebrand said

The first round pick was Max Iheanachor, who was the 21st overall selection of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hildebrand is the top player in the class of 2027 for Arizona State. The Sun Devils’ class currently is 37th in the nation and second in the Big 12.
