The first-place Rangers are set to add a prospect with elite speed to their roster.
Cameron Cauley, who has played shortstop, third base, second base and center field at Triple-A this season, will be called up to the Rangers, a source told MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry ahead of Texas’ opener with the Guardians in Cleveland on Monday. The club has not confirmed the news.
Cauley ranks as the Rangers’ No. 13 prospect and boasts 70-grade speed, per MLB Pipeline. The 23-year-old third-round Draft pick has hit .262/.363/.407 in 74 games with 29 steals in 29 attempts for the Round Rock Express this year.
