Per The Advocate, former Texas A&M standout Ronnie Crosby has departed the team. The Advocate spoke with offensive coordinator Ken Merchant at preseason training camp last week.

“Ronnie Crosby is not with us anymore,” Merchant said. “When he was here, he looked good, and I wish him all the best.”

Crosby joined Southern University via the Transfer Portal in January, weeks after Faulk was named head coach of the Jaguars. He was expected to be a key addition in the Jaguar running back room that already featured former LSU standout Trey Holly.

Southern’s run game stood out as a bright spot in an otherwise difficult season, largely thanks to Holly’s production. He closed out the year with 798 rushing yards and nine scores on the ground. The clearest glimpse of his upside came in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge, where he broke off an 80-yard touchdown run against North Carolina Central, the kind of explosive play that once drew Power Five attention in high school and ultimately led him to LSU.

According to The Advocate, Southern University has ten running backs with three freshman additions heading into the season. Southern is set to employ a different offensive style than previous editions of the team. They will debut that new offensive attack against Andrew Body and the Alabama State Hornets, who are predicted to finish atop the SWAC East this season.
