The Notre Dame football program is currently preparing for the upcoming 2026 college football season, which is slated to get underway in just over a month’s time. The Fighting Irish are hoping to bounce back after a frustrating 2025 season which saw them stumble out of the gates to 0-2, ultimately preventing them from making the playoffs despite ending with a 10-game winning streak.
Recently, a big partnership was announced that will help the Notre Dame brass line its already deep pockets.
“Notre Dame has partnered with SoFi as its official jersey patch sponsor. The six-year deal with SoFi is expected to be the most valuable jersey sponsorship deal in college athletics history at an average of $18-20 million annually, sources tell (Yahoo Sports),” reported Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports on X, formerly Twitter.
The SoFi patch will be worn by all sports for the Fighting Irish, but will get the most visibility understandably with its football team, which has consistently been among the most marquee programs in the country.
The news comes just days after Pete Thamel of ESPN reported that Ohio State University had partnered with JPMorgan Chase for new jersey patches that will net the Buckeyes program $17 million per year.
Jersey patches have become an increasingly visible phenomenon in both the college and professional sports worlds over the last few years, and clearly, Notre Dame knows how to capitalize on the new wave financially.
Meanwhile, on the field, the Fighting Irish will look to insert themselves back into the playoff race this year, beginning on Sept. 6 at home against Wisconsin.
