Ohio State news: Buckeyes star WRs haul in over $527 million over last 2 years

Ohio State has long been known as “Wide Receiver U,” and the numbers continue to back it up. Over the last two NFL offseasons, four former Buckeyes receivers have signed contract extensions worth a combined $527.6 million, further cementing Ohio State’s reputation as the premier destination for elite wide receiver talent. Saints star receiver Chris Olave’s latest contract extension got them here.

Thanks to Adam Schefter for the information; the latest wave of massive deals includes:

Those contracts aren’t just life-changing for the players — they’re another recruiting tool for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has consistently produced NFL-ready receivers over the past two decades, and the program’s recent success has reached another level. Smith-Njigba, Olave, Wilson, and McLaurin have all developed into No. 1-caliber receivers in the NFL, earning the type of contracts reserved for the league’s biggest stars.

The pipeline isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Current Buckeyes superstar Jeremiah Smith is widely viewed as one of the best players in college football and is already projected to be a top-two selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. If he lives up to expectations, he could eventually join this group with a record-setting payday of his own. Carnell Tate was just drafted to the Tennessee Titans in the first round as well.

That’s the standard at Ohio State. Elite receivers arrive in Columbus, develop into first-round NFL Draft picks, and eventually cash in with massive second contracts. Few programs in the country can match that level of sustained success at one position.

As the Buckeyes prepare for another national championship run in 2026, recruits around the country are watching closely. With more than half a billion dollars in receiver contracts handed out over the last two offseasons alone, Ohio State continues to prove that if you want to become an NFL star at wide receiver, there’s no better place to start than Columbus.
