An NCAA injunction ruling impacted eligibility for members of the 2022 class earlier in August. Now one key Arch Manning protector will take advantage of the agreement. This offensive lineman will circle back to Texas Football ahead of the 2026 season.
College football insider for On3 Pete Nakos revealed on Thursday who’s returning to Austin.
“Texas OL Cole Hutson is officially rejoining the Longhorns roster after reaching an agreement with the NCAA, his attorney David Ovard tells On3 in a statement,” Nakos posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Ovard also provided this release as Hutson gains a fifth collegiate season. He helped reveal via Nakos that his client is “thrilled to be playing with his beloved Longhorn teammates.”
Once again Huston takes advantage of the landmark ruling made possible by Colorado federal judge Charlotte Sweeney. However, this move doesn’t allow players to enter the College Football Transfer Portal to seek out a last-minute home during fall camps. But players who previously entered the portal in January and are still searching for a home still have that luxury.
So this ruling benefits players who went undrafted this past April and are aiming to re-boost their NFL Draft stock. Such is the case for Hutson as he reunites with Manning and head coach Steve Sarkisian. He had spent time participating in rookie minicamps but no contract came of it.
Hutson lures 23 starts as a guard and center back to Texas. He heads back to a Longhorns team overhearing College Football Playoff chatter.
